The 2024 total solar eclipse is coming on April 8, 2024 to northeast Ohio and I’ve listed the top 6 total solar eclipse essentials you’ll need! NASA estimates that Cleveland will experience totality at 3:15pm. Solar eclipses help scientists learn more about the sun, the moon, and our home, Earth! There are scientists that follow solar eclipses around the globe.

Check out my top 6 total solar eclipse essentials that you’ll need to help you and your own family of scientists celebrate the big day.

Solar Eclipse Glasses:

If you want to actually see the total solar eclipse happen, you’ll want to make sure you have eye protection to protect them from the sun’s UV light. Be sure the glasses you select are  ISO 12312-2 approved. These are approved and made in the USA.

Smartphone Solar Eclipse Filter:

You will need a solar filter like this one if you plan to record the solar eclipse on your smart phone.

Telescope and Camera Solar Eclipse Filter:

You will need a solar filter like this one if you plan to view the eclipse through telescope, binoculars, or a regular camera without a solar cover. This solar cover is great for longer lenses.

Books about the Total Solar Eclipse:

Are you looking for books to help your children or yourself understand a solar eclipse? These books are the perfect addition to your home library! Read my book reviews here.

Solar Eclipse T-Shirts and Stickers:

Check out my friends store (it’s a local to Cleveland shop) Infinite Hugs LLC! She sells these adorable solar eclipse t-shirts in adult, youth, and toddler sizes! They come in 3 different colors. Don’t delay ordering! This shirt would pair really well with the book called “Total Solar Eclipse: A Stellar Friendship Story“. She’s also has some really cute vinyl solar eclipse stickers for sale!
