๐ŸŽ‰ As part of E-Week (Engineering Week), today is Introduce a Girl ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฟโ€๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŽจ to Engineering Day! ๐ŸŽ‰

๐Ÿ”ฌWomen earn 53% more of the undergraduate STEM degrees in the United States but women only account for a little over 20% of the undergraduate degrees in engineering ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. We desperately need to increase this number. ๐Ÿ“ˆ I’ve seen numbers that of those 20%, only 40% actually remain in the field long term.

โ“What is engineeringโ“
Engineering is a degree in expert problem solving! Engineers solve some of the most complex problems facing the world today. They work to make the world a better place.

๐Ÿ’•How can you help a girl explore engineering:๐Ÿ’•
๐ŸŒŸ Reinforce / encourage curiosity and asking questions!
๐ŸŒŸ If you are an engineer, share your experience with other girls!
๐ŸŒŸ Read engineering books like ‘Rosie Revere, Engineer’ or ‘How I Discovered Engineering’ by Diane Propsner.
๐ŸŒŸ Volunteer for career days at schools to talk about your engineering career!
๐ŸŒŸ Connect girls to STEM programs in your area like Science Olympiad, Girl Scouts , your local science center, SWEnext , etc.
๐ŸŒŸ Introduce role models!

Let’s keep breaking down that glass ceiling and encouraging the next generation of STEM women! ๐Ÿ’ช
