Disclaimer:  My family and I received free admission to the Great Lakes Science Center (GLSC) in order to check out this exhibit and provide my honest review.  As always, all opinions are my own.  I am also a contributing writer to the GLSC Curiosity Corner.

If you have a bunch of monkeys jumping off the walls at home this winter holiday, be sure to the check out the newest exhibit at the Great Lakes Science Center Curious George: Let’s Get Curious and Run, Jump, Fly! Adventures in Action. It is available until January 8 and included in General Admission. There are also two new movies playing at the Cleveland Clinic Dome Theater – a beautiful and inspiring movie called Ireland and a super cute and informative movie called Sea Lions: Life by a Whisker. For more information on each, read more below.

And don’t miss my giveaway below for four free general admission tickets to the Great Lakes Science Center!

Curious George: Let’s Get Curious –

One of my absolute favorite science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) cartoon characters ever is Curious George. Children are born so naturally curious just like George. George embodies the qualities and spirit of curiosity. He makes kids feel good about their own curiosity in life through humor and extraordinary adventures. When I heard this exhibit was on display, I knew I had to bring my kids to check it out.

Children transform into the world of Curious George and explore what life is like as a curious little monkey while learning along the way! It’s so fun, children do not even realize they are learning and experimenting. One of their most favorite exhibits was the conveyor, which gave them hands on experience in architecture, building, and civil & mechanical engineering. They also loved making their own wind sails which provided them hands on experience in the physics of wind. In addition to those adventures, children can try their physics skills at miniature golf, test out light theories with blocks, lights, and projectors, experiment with balance while helping George wash windows, learn about shapes, numbers, and colors while working at the grocery store, or have fun dressing up as characters in the story.

Run, Jump, Fly! Adventures in Action –

This area of the exhibit is all about experimenting with physical fitness. Children test out strength, balance, coordination, and endurance through physical activities like skiing / surfing, pedaling a fly cycle, kung fu, yoga, dancing, testing strength at the strength station, and there is even a toddler pyramid for younger children to enjoy. Our favorites were the climbing canyon wall, surfing / skiing, and the strength center.

Dome Theater Movie, Ireland –

The movie Ireland follows young musicians around their native country to learn and discover their rich cultural heritage and stunning natural wonders of Ireland. We learned about the Atlantic Puffins that have distinctive orange beaks and feet that live off the cliffs on Skellig Michael. The incredible images in the movie made us want to visit Ireland someday!

Dome Theater Movie, Sea Lions: Life by a Whisker –

This delightful movie, Sea Lions: Life by a Whisker, follows the life of a baby Australian sea lion named Otter. Sea Lions are endangered in Australia due to overfishing. Scientists and researchers from Australia study conservation projects in California to save sea lion populations. Sea lions eat the same fish that we do, so they are the watch dogs of the ocean. This movie left us filled with new knowledge about sea lions, excited for the future of animal conservations for this species and inspired to spread the mission of saving them. They are cute, cuddly, and extremely fragile in today’s oceans.
